Abstract

The courage that is shown by two main characters, Vianne and Isabelle, in the novel is described into four character strength which relate to courage: Bravery, persistance, integrity, and vitality. After struggling and facing many things during Nazi occupies France. Both of them show the same strength such as: both can be considered as brave because their actions put them into the danger and it also can be called as heroism, both have strength to continue striving for the goal and dedicate their life to help many people, both has done the right thing for the right reason even it is not easy choice , and both has spirit to face obstacle from the activities they choose to engage . Finaly, after analyzing this study the writer has learned that courage is the most important thing that has to be struggled. The quality of courage allows the human being to face life, especially in the moments where someone can experience fear or danger. The courage also give someone strength. This strength make someone will have strong stance for doing something.
