Abstract

This thes is explores the affectex pressions stated by Bella Swan in the novel TWILIGHT by Stephenie Meyer. Affect is the sub type of attitude which is part of appraisal system.There search question presented in this thesis are:(1)What are the affect expressions stated by Bella Swan found in Stephenie Meyer’s TWILIGHT?(2)What types of evaluation are show n by the expressions of affect in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight? Qualitative descriptive method was applied in analyzing the topicto reach there search goal.The data source is taken from Stephenie Meyer’s TWILIGHT published in 2005 as the analysis for the discussion and only focused on the affect expressions stated by Bella Swan.This research consisted of 104 data,with in/ security as the dominant type.The data do not only state the attitude and evaluation explicitly,but also implicitly. Further, the type of evaluatin used by Bella Swan is realized through the orientation of each word and sentence.
