Abstract

Conflict can happen to everyone. in social life, someone always has interaction with another, and has many conflicts with each other. Perhaps someone could be torn by the conflict. sometimes thhey try to avoid situation, i which decision must be made. in this study, the tesis writer wants to show the conflict of charlie in stephen chbosky's The Perks of being a wallflower. in analyzing the novel, the writer uses qualitative research. an instrinsic approach is used because the study deals with the character and conflict, in the analysis, Charlie's internal conflict happens when his best friend committed suicide and he blames himself because of it he has problem to "fit in" in society when he enters high school because social life to solve this conflict, another internal conflict is when charlie internally fights his feelling for sam even passes her rejection to him. then, charlie has a mental breakdown when he realizes his forgotten past from molestation from his favored aunt helen.even tough charlie has a trauma because of it, he chooses to forgive his aunt aunty. Charlie has several conflicts with people around him such as Bill, his sister, patrick, Sam, Mary-Elizabeth, Brad And Aunt Helem. Charlie's conflicts make his life complicated, but he tries to solve his that charlie's conflict with the explanation abov, the writer concludes that charlie's conflict with other people around him makes him understand more and know hpw to participate more in society.
