Abstract
Indonesia is a country with high seismic activity, including Surabaya, which is categorized in a moderate hazard zone according to the Earthquake Map and has the potential to be affected by the Kendeng Fault activity. This condition denlands earthquake mitigation technolov in buildings, one of which is through implementing a High Damping Rubber Bearing (HDRB) base isolation system that reduces structural dynamic response. This study aims to comrX7te the seismic performance and costs 0fa 6-story reinforced concrete building in Surabaya using pushover analysis based on FEMA 356 & 440, and budget estimation. The analysis results show that the implementation of the High Damping Rubber Bearing (HDRB) system possesses difennt characteristics compred to the conventional Structure (Fixed Base) based on the FEMA 356 and FFMA 440 standards. The Fixed Base model is at the Immediate Occupancy (IO) level in the X- direction with a drift value but drops to the Life &7fety (IS) level in the Y-diæction with a drift value Of 00%. Conversely, the HDRB model is fully at the Life &lfety (IS) level with values of] (X-direction) and 1.6896- 1.82% (Y-direcnon). Cost analysis indicates that the Fixed Base system requires a total investment Of IDR 23, 616,000, 000.00, wheæas the HDRB System becomes more expensive with a total cost Of IDR 24, The application Of this HDRB technolov results in an increase in the initial investment by IDR 846,000, 000.00 (3.58%) due to the procurement costs ofthe bearing units. Thus, the use of the HDRB system is more effective in pmtecting the integrity Of the main structure from earthquake loads because the deformation is concentrated on the lower isolation devices compared to the rigid Fixed Base system
