Abstract
Blitar Regency is one of the largest laying-hen egg production centers in East Java and plays an important role in supporting regional food security. This study aimed to identify the dominant factors affecting laying-hen farming, develop an alternative feed formulation, and determine the best scenario to improve the profitability of a 1,000-layer-hen farm. The research employed SEM-PLS and dynamic system simulation using STELLA 5.3.2 Architect software. The results indicated that economic factors were the most dominant variables influencing layinghen farming performance. The alternative feed formulation increased crude protein content from 11% to 19.575% and reduced feed costs by IDR 4,104,000 per year. Simulation results showed that the feed formulation improvement scenario was the most effective, increasing egg production by 4.41%, egg inventory by 39.02%, and cumulative profit by nearly four times compared with existing conditions. In addition, the payback period was shortened from 5.717 years to 1.201 years. To ensure feed ingredient availability, the required land area was estimated at 2.88 ha for maize cultivation and 17.52 ha for rice cultivation. These findings demonstrate that an appropriate feed formulation can enhance cost efficiency, profitability, and the sustainability of laying-hen farming enterprises.
