Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the quality control of biscuit product packaging at PT. XYZ using the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) method. The problem occurring in the company is the high rate of packaging defects, which exceeds the company's tolerance standard of 3%. The types of defects found include leaks, unsealed packaging, tears, and faint coding. This study utilizes a quantitative approach supported by Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools, including Pareto diagrams, p-charts, fishbone diagrams, and Defect Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) calculations. The research data were obtained from historical production data for the period from November 2025 to February 2026. The results showed that the total number of packaging defects reached 1,378,880 pcs out of a total production of 11,521,580 pcs. Based on the Pareto diagram, the dominant defects consist of leaks at 28.21%, unsealed packaging at 26.47%, and tears at 23.16%. The factors causing these defects are influenced by human, machine, method, material, and work environment aspects. Proposed improvements include updating SOPs, creating machine cleaning and maintenance checklists, and increasing production process supervision to reduce defect rates and company financial losses.
