Abstract

A bottom ash of coal is an industrial waste from the residual of coal combustion which is only stacked in the factory area (ash disposal). This condition has emerged various innovations and the development of new technologies. One of methods developed is composit, a combination of two materials that have two different properties become one new material. The method is experiment, with the stages of making composite is a mixing of coal bottom ash with the size (mesh) of 200-250 with the difference of 90 percent polypropylene and 10 percent of coal bottom ash. The next stages, with the mixture put in an extruder that is heated at temperature of (170°C, 180°C, and 190°C). Then, stirring composite material in speed of 20rpm for 30 minutes, after that do a detention time in 0 minute, 30 minutes, and 60 minutes, then it is poured into a mold (die) that has been prepared, and do an emphasis with a jack of 25kgf/cm 2 in 5 minutes then formed based on tensile and bending test. Then, the broken fragment from tensile test will be used for SEM test. The result of best tensile test occured at temperature of 170°C with detention time of 0 minute in the amount of 40,171 N/mm 2 , while the best bending test with the amount of 99,300 N/mm 2 occured at temperatur 190°C with holding time of 0 minute.
