Abstract

UD Logam Abadi is a manufacturing company engaged in the processing and production of metal-based products using a labor-intensive production system. In its production activities, the company sets daily production targets to meet customer demand. However, in practice, these targets are frequently not achieved, indicating problems related to productivity and work system efficiency. Productivity is a key indicator of production system performance, and inefficiencies often arise due to non-optimal work methods and ineffective work motions. This study aims to analyze the work system in the production process of UD Logam Abadi in order to improve productivity through work measurement and work method improvement. The research method applied in this study is work study, which includes the development of an Operation Process Chart (OPC), right-hand and left-hand process charts, and time measurement using the time study method. Observed time data were analyzed to obtain cycle time, normal time, and standard time by considering performance rating and Allowance factors. Furthermore, work motion analysis was conducted to identify non-value added activities that contribute to inefficiencies in the production process. The results indicate that the actual cycle time remains relatively high, leading to low daily production capacity and the failure to achieve the established production targets. Evaluation of the results of the work system improvements showed an increase in production performance, marked by an increase in actual output from 1,280 pcs to 1,415 pcs per day and an increase in system productivity from 2.37 pcs/minute to 2.95 pcs/minute.
