Abstract

Electric vehicles (EVs) are growing rapidly in Indonesia as an environmentally friendly transportation solution. However, the availability of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in Mojokerto City is still limited, requiring users to access facilities outside the city. This study aims to determine the optimal location and capacity of SPKLUs in Mojokerto City using the Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) method. The study area covers Kranggan, Magersari, and Prajurit Kulon Districts, taking into account the distribution of electric vehicle users, travel distance, spatial suitability, and investment costs. The optimization model was implemented using Python and PuLP on Google Colab. The results showed that out of 22 candidate locations, five optimal locations were selected, namely Location 4 (GMSC), 10, 15 (Mojokerto City Square), 20, and 22 (Wates Village Office). The optimal configuration consists of two 22 kW charging stations (SPKLU) and five gas distribution stations (SPLU), capable of serving 99 electric motorcycles and 13 electric cars with a minimum investment cost of IDR 303,806,141. In addition to significantly reducing travel distances, the optimization results also demonstrate the effectiveness of the MILP method in generating efficient, measurable, and data-driven location decisions. The results of this study are expected to inform local government considerations.
