Abstract
Perkembangan dunia industri menyebabkan peningkatan permintaan terhadap material khususnya produk. penggunaan bahan logam pada berbagai elemen bahan semakin berkurang, karena berartnya elemen logam serta relatif sulit dalam pembentukan pada proses pembuatannya.bahan yang ingin dikembangkan adalah material komposit.komposit merupakan gabungan dua merial yang berbeda atau komponen yang mengandung serat alami sebagai pengisi campuran polimer semakin banyak digunakan dalam rekayasa material. Dengan demikian sebagai pengganti serat sintetis digunakan serat pelepah pisang abaka dan serat tanaman sisal, serat pelepah pisang abaka dan serat tanaman sisal yaitu tanaman yang bermanfaat dikarenakan salah satu jenis serat yang berpotensial, dan merupakan pengganti atau alternatif yang bisa digunakan untuk penguat komposit bermatriks epoxy. Apabila menggunakan serat alami yaitu batang pisang abaca dan serat sisal diperlukan sebuah proses alkalisasi yang dapat meningkatkan kompabilitas antara serat dan matriks. Berkurangnya kandungan hemiselusa, lignin atau pektin dalam serat akan meningkatkan kekerasan permukaan, sehingga menghasilkan kesesuain mekanis yang lebih baik antara serat dan matriks. Pengujian bending dan impact pada spesimen tersebut dilakukan untuk mengetahui tingkat kekuatan mekanik pada komposit serat batang pisang abaka dan serat tanaman sisal sesuai standart ASTM D-790-03 dan ASTM D-256. dalam melakukan pembuatan material komposit dengan metode vari (Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion) dengan tujuan untuk mengurangi adanya void yang terperangkap di dalam spesimen atau cetakan ketika dialiri resin epoxy. Vacuum Compressor menggunakan ¼ hp pada metode vari (Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion) bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari dua variasi antara proses Naoh (alkalisai) 20 menit, 40 menit, 60 menit dan fraksi volume serat 20%,30%,40%,50%,60% Kata Kunci : Serat pisang abaka, Serat Sisal, Vari (Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion) , Alkali, fraksi volume serat, Uji Bending, Uji Impact
