Abstract
The RNT 32.20 root blower is a rotating machine that plays a critical role in industrial processes and is highly susceptible to mechanical faults such as misalignment and unbalance, which can reduce performance and accelerate component damage. This study aims to analyze the condition of the root blower using vibration analysis methods to detect the progressive development of misalignment and unbalance at an early stage. Data were collected using the SKF Quick Collect CMDT 391 KSL, with measurement parameters including RMS velocity, peak velocity, dominant frequency, temperature, and vibration spectrum. The study was conducted experimentally and non-destructively through periodic monitoring over three measurement stages at four main measurement points, namely DE-DR, NDE-DR, DE DN, and NDE-DN. The results show that during the first measurement stage, the machine condition was classified as good to early warning, with average RMS velocity values ranging from 2.14 to 2.49 mm/s, peak velocity from 1.05 to 1.21 mm/s, a dominant frequency of 44.375 Hz, and temperatures between 41 and 43 °C. In the second measurement stage, vibration levels increased to the warning category, with RMS velocity values of 4.14–5.52 mm/s, peak velocity of 2.69–3.57 mm/s, a dominant frequency of 48.481 Hz, and temperatures ranging from 47 to 53 °C, indicating the progression of mechanical faults. In the third measurement stage, all measurement points reached the danger category, characterized by RMS velocity values of 6.12 11.59 mm/s, peak velocity of 4.89–9.52 mm/s, a consistent dominant frequency of 48.125 Hz at 1× RPM, and temperatures increasing to 49.88–56.02 °C. Based on these results, it can be concluded that vibration analysis using the SKF Analyzer is effective in detecting and monitoring the progressive development of misalignment and unbalance. At the final stage, the machine condition was deemed unfit for operation and required immediate corrective actions.
