Abstract

Early adulthood is a crucial phase in an individual’s life, marked by complex challenge. It is uncommon for individuals in this phase to experience a quarter life crisis, which can lead to a decrease in resilience. One of the main challenges is how individuals can maintain or enhance their resilience in order to adopt and cope with difficult situations. This can be influenced by the use of appropriate coping strategies and confidence in making career decisions. This study aims to examine the relationship between problem-focused coping and career self-efficacy with resilience in early adulthood during the quarter-life crisis phase. This study employed a quantitative approach with a total of 115 participants. The subjects were early adults aged 19–30 years who were currently experiencing or had previously experienced a quarter-life crisis in the East Java region. The sampling technique used was non probability sampling with a quota sampling method. The instruments used in this study included three psychological scales: a resilience scale, a problem-focused coping scale, and a career self-efficacy scale. The results of multiple regression analysis showed a significant relationship between problem-focused coping and career self-efficacy with resilience, with a contribution of 42.8%, F = 41.822, and a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). This means that the higher the problem focused coping and career self-efficacy, the higher the level of resilience in early adulthood during the quarter-life crisis, and vice versa.
