Abstract

Skripsi ini membahas Tanggungjawab pers dalam penyebaran berita bohong (hoaks) selama masa kampanye pemilihan umum Presiden (pemilu), dengan menitikberatkan pada perlindungan kebebasan pers dan Tanggungjawab etis media. Dalam konteks demokrasi pasca-reformasi, pers memiliki peran vital sebagai penyampai informasi yang akurat sekaligus penjaga integritas demokrasi, khususnya menjelang pemilu sebagai perwujudan kedaulatan rakyat. Namun demikian, kebebasan pers kerap disalahgunakan untuk menyebarkan informasi yang menyesatkan dan bermuatan kepentingan politik tertentu, yang pada akhirnya merugikan masyarakat serta mengancam kualitas pemilu dan stabilitas politik nasional. Dalam hal ini, Dewan Pers sebagai lembaga independen yang diatur dalam Undang-Undang Nomor 40 Tahun 1999 tentang Pers memiliki peran strategis dalam menegakkan etika jurnalistik, menyelesaikan sengketa pemberitaan, dan memastikan media bertindak sesuai dengan prinsip kepentingan publik. Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana Pertanggungjawaban hukum baik secara perdata maupun secara pidana, termasuk Pertanggungjawaban etik terhadap pers yang terbukti menyebarkan berita bohong selama kampanye, serta menekankan pentingnya penguatan regulasi dan etika jurnalistik guna menjamin terselenggaranya pemilu yang jujur, adil, dan demokratis. Dengan pendekatan yuridis normatif, skripsi ini juga menyoroti peran masyarakat dan Dewan Pers dalam mewujudkan media yang bertanggung jawab dan berintegritas di tengah tantangan era digital.
