Abstract

Quarter-Life Crisis is a common phenomenon in early adulthood characterized by feelings of worry, confusion, anxiety, frustration, and stress regarding future choices and decisions. This study aims to analyze the relationship between parental expectations and career maturity with quarter-life crisis in out-of-town students, especially those from outside Java. This study used a quantitative approach with 158 students aged 20-28 years old, selected using purposive sampling and multiple regression analysis. The analysis found that parental expectations have a positive relationship with quarter-life crisis, meaning that the higher the parental expectations, the higher the quarter-life crisis. Conversely, career maturity has a negative relationship with quarter-life crisis, meaning that individuals with a high level of career maturity will reduce the occurrence of quarter-life crisis. High parental expectations contributed 7.4% to quarter-life crisis, while career maturity contributed 31.1%. Together, these two variables contributed 39% to the severity of quarter-life crisis. These findings are expected to provide insight into the dynamics of dealing with quarter-life crisis and provide psychological insight for individuals experiencing it.
