Abstract

Pasirharjo Village and Bajang Village in this study are analyzed with the aim of designing a sustainable food security strategy through a system dynamics approach, using case studies from Pasirharjo and Bajang Villages, Talun District, Blitar Regency. The main focus of the research is to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, increase soil pH, and optimize agricultural yields to enhance farmers' profitability and maintain the sustainability of village farming systems. The research method involves factor analysis using SmartPLS to identify key variables, as well as system dynamics modeling with the help of STELLA software to simulate policy scenarios. The research results show that in Pasirharjo Village, reducing chemical fertilizers by 20–30% and switching to organic fertilizers can reduce production costs by up to 32% per year, or approximately IDR 1,068,635,888 per year. In Bajang Village, increasing soil pH through the use of dolomite lime and manure can increase yields by up to 2 tons per 100 RU and generate profits of up to 110% per year, or around IDR 5,482,211,866 per year. The use of botanical pesticides also has a positive impact, although not as effective as fertilizer and soil pH management strategies. Risk management, especially related to the availability of raw materials for organic fertilizers and pesticides, is an important factor in supporting the successful implementation of this strategy. Therefore, training, assistance, and strengthening farmers’ capacity are essential. Overall, the system dynamics model has proven effective in designing sustainable agricultural policies that can enhance efficiency, production, and village food security.
