Abstract
Indonesia merupakan negara yang kaya akan sumber daya alam. Dalam memilih perabotan dan perlengkapan, semua orang membutuhkan bahan yang tahan lama dan terlihat baik. Bahan yang digunakan untuk perlengkapan toko maupun rumah tangga adalah kayu, kaca, dan besi. Berkaitan dengan daya tahan, material-material tersebut rentan terhadap masalah alam seperti serangan rayap, masalah korosi, dan lainnya. Kemajuan pada bidang teknik kimia memperkenalkan material baru yaitu akrilik. Akrilik merupakan polymethyl methacrylate yang berupa polimer sintetis dari metil metakrilat yang bersifat mencair bila dipanaskan dan permukaannya transparan menyerupai kaca yang mempunyai sifat padat, keras dan kuat. Adapun akrilik sendiri memiliki banyak keunggulan diantaranya adalah lebih ringan, tahan terhadap benturan, tahan terhadap cuaca diluar ruangan, ramah lingkungan, tahan terhadap racun, dan juga dapat didaur ulang. Dalam proses pengolahan akrilik, dibutuhkan alat penekuk akrilik/acrylic bending machine. Saat ini masih banyak yang menggunakan alat penekuk akrilik dengan cara yang manual, contohnya saat menekuk akrilik yang telah dipanaskan masih menggunakan tangan secara manual sedangkan di skala Industri untuk ukuran akrilik yang akan ditekuk panjang dan lebar jika masih menggunakan cara manual maka sangat tidak efisien. Hasil dari penelitian sistem pneumatic menunjukkan tekanan kerja sebesar 1,04 bar masih berada jauh dibawah batas aman sistem (10 bar), sehingga sistem dinyatakan aman, dengan rod pneumatic yanag dirancang berdiameter 25 mm telah memenuhi semua aspek kekuatan seperti tegangan buckling dan tegangan tekan, dengan faktor keamanan sebesar 2. Analisis kekuatan mur (Locknut) juga menunjukkan bahwa tegangan crushing yang terjadi masih berada jauh dibawah tegangan izin bahan, sehingga sambungan mur – baut pada silinder pneumatic aman terhadap beban kerja sebesar 100 N.
