Abstract

UD. Yurike, a dish rack manufacturing company, faces an operational challenge of a consistent gap between customer demand and actual production capacity, leading to a high dependency on inefficient and costly overtime. The root cause was identified as the absence of a standard work measurement method, which resulted in production processes relying on worker intuition and causing inconsistent performance. This research aims to optimize the production line by implementing a work time study to establish a standard time, identify bottlenecks. The methodology employed was a time study for work measurement and a Workload Analysis. The research results established the total standard time to produce one dish rack unit as 2,085.19 seconds. The Coloring process was identified as the main bottleneck, consuming approximately 78% of the total production time. Based on the standard time, the company's standard output was determined to be 67 units per day. Through proposed improvements involving workstation reallocation and consolidation, the number of operators could be optimized from 24 to 11, and the standard production capacity was successfully increased from 1,664 to 1,742 cartons per month. This proposal proved capable of meeting historical demand targets more efficiently and unlocking significant cost-saving potential by eliminating the reliance on overtime.
