Abstract

This study explores how Micro Waqf Banks (BWM) help improve the performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Surabaya. It focuses on three key factors: access to financing, human resource (HR) development, and financial literacy, with capital as a mediating variable. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through surveys of MSMEs supported by BWM. The analysis was done using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0 to test how each factor influences MSME performance directly and through capital. The results show that all three factors—financing, HR development, and financial literacy—positively and significantly affect MSME performance, and this effect is stronger when supported by capital. Among the variables, capital is the most influential, showing that good financial resources are key to business growth. HR development also plays a strong role, highlighting the need for business training. The study also confirms that Micro Waqf Banks not only provide ethical, interest-free loans but also offer training and mentoring programs that help micro businesses grow. These include Pra Wajib Kelompok (PWK) and Halaqoh Mingguan (HALMI) sessions. In conclusion, this research suggests that combining financing and education through Micro Waqf Banks can effectively improve MSME performance, support local economies, and promote inclusive, sustainable microfinance.
