Abstract

The rapid growth of cities has led to a decrease in the availability of land for agriculture, which in turn affects the stability of food availability in urban areas. To address this challenge, the concept of urban farming is applied as an approach to strengthen food security by producing food locally in the community's living environment. In its implementation in Surabaya, the success of urban farming heavily depends on the active involvement and collaboration between various parties. The local government, particularly the DKPP, facilitates the program by providing training, assistance with tools and seedlings, as well as building supporting facilities such as greenhouses. Support from academics, business actors, local communities, and farmer groups also plays an important role in forming stakeholder synergy. This collaboration has strengthened food security at the local level, but continuous efforts are still needed, such as intensive mentoring and the utilization of strategic land, so that urban farming continues to operate and provides broad benefits for the urban community, especially for economically disadvantaged groups.
