Abstract

Sektor pertanian padi adalah salah-satu aspek utama bagi kebutuhan ekonomi pedesaan, seperti di Desa Maduran, Kabupaten Lamongan yang sebagaian besar mengantungkan hidupnya dengan berprofesi sebagai petani padi, hal itu dikarenakan Desa Maduran dikelilingi lahan persawahan, dalam proses ini peran pengepul padi menjadi sangat penting sebagai penghubung antara petani dan pasar untuk distribusi hasil panen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pola komunikasi pengepul padi dalam mempertahankan loyalitas dengan petani. Menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui wawancara kepada pengepul dan asistenya, serta dua petani sebagai triangulasi sumber data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola komunikasi antara pengepul dan petani bersifat fleksibel dan dinamis, serta berkembang seiring waktu. Temuan dianalisis menggunakan beberapa pola komunikasi klasik. Dalam tahap awal, komunikasi cenderung bersifat satu arah sebagaimana dijelaskan dalam pola linier Shannon dan Weaver (1949). Selanjutnya, pola komunikasi berkembang menjadi dua arah dengan adanya umpan balik, sesuai dengan pola sirkuler Osgood dan Schramm (1954). Hubungan yang lebih erat dan emosional terbangun melalui komunikasi transaksional menurut Dean Barnlund (1970), di mana pengepul dan petani saling memengaruhi dalam interaksi yang simultan. Seiring berjalannya waktu, komunikasi juga menunjukkan perkembangan yang berkesinambungan seperti dijelaskan dalam pola spiral Frank Dance (1967), melalui kegiatan sosial, obrolan santai, dan kedekatan emosional yang semakin kuat.
