Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyse the empowerment of salt farming communities in Pesanggrahan Village, Bangkalan Regency as an effort to increase salt production, which is based on 4 scopes of empowerment according to Totok Mardikanto's and Soebianto theory (2017). These four scopes consist of human development, business development, environmental development, and institutional development. This research adopts qualitative research methods, combining primary and secondary data sources. Data is obtained through collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The collected data will be analysed through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this study indicate that community empowerment of salt farmers in Pesanggrahan Village, Bangkalan Regency as an effort to increase salt production is quite optimal. Empowerment has carried out several forms of activities such as training or socialisation, pond channel normalisation assistance and counselling in terms of protecting the environment, as well as the formation of salt groups to facilitate the provision of assistance. Nevertheless, the empowerment of salt farmers in Pesanggrahan Village in the scope of human capacity development still faces limitations in terms of the intensity of the implementation of training activities, and the need to develop a structured training schedule with a clear budget allocation. This research confirms that the community empowerment activities of salt farmers have achieved some progress, but there is still room for improvement that needs to be done on an ongoing basis. By overcoming these obstacles and continuing to strengthen collaboration, it is hoped that the empowerment of salt farming communities in Pesanggrahan Village can have a greater and more sustainable impact on increasing salt production in the region.
