Abstract
Female healthcare workers in South Sumatra Province play an important role in the healthcare sector, accounting for 54.24% of the total healthcare workforce in 2024. However, geographical challenges, high illness rates, and the dual role as professionals and household managers create unique dynamics in achieving work-life balance. This study aims to analyze the influence of social support and work stress on the work-life balance of female healthcare workers at RSUD Siti Fatimah, and to evaluate work stress as a mediator.This research uses a quantitative method with a survey of female healthcare workers. Purposive sampling technique was applied to select the respondents, and data were analyzed using path analysis and Sobel test to examine the mediation of work stress.The findings show that social support significantly influences work-life balance. Support from family, colleagues, and superiors helps individuals manage work pressure and achieve a better life balance. However, work stress did not significantly affect work-life balance, either directly or through mediation. Social support also did not affect work-life balance through the reduction of work stress.This study suggests the importance of other factors, such as time management skills and individual coping strategies, in determining work-life balance. Recommendations include strengthening social support in the workplace, stress management training, and the development of time management skills. These efforts are expected to improve the well-being and productivity of female healthcare workers at RSUD Siti Fatimah and throughout South Sumatra Province.
