Abstract

Instalasi sebuah sistem pentanahan atau pembumian sangat diperlukan sebagai salah satu pengaman dalam sebuah instalasi sistem tenaga listrik, sistem pentanahan harus memiliki tahanan pentanahan yang sekecil mungkin. Berdasarkan PUIL 2011, pada bangunan gedung dibutuhkan nilai tahanan <5Ω. Sistem pembumian merupakan suatu rangkaian atau sebuah jaringan yang dimulai dari terminal pembumian, konduktor, hingga kutub pembumian atau elektroda yang mempunyai fungsi menghantarkan arus lebih kedalam tanah, dan bertujaan untuk mengatasi tegangan antara bagian-bagian peralatan yang seharusnya tidak dialiri arus dengan tanah sampai nilai tertentu yang aman (nilai tahanan kecil). Untuk mengukur besar nilai tahanan tanah digunakan alat bernama earth tester. Metode yang digunakan dalam peneletian ini adalah metode tiga titik dengan menggunakan earth tester. Salah satu contoh hasil pengukuran di lab. TIPTL dengan kedalaman 0.8 meter didapat tahanan jenis tanah sebesar 19.61Ωm dan termasuk kedalam tanah liat, hasil perhitungan menggunakan 1 batang yang di tanam sedalam 3 meter didapat nilai tahanan sebesar 6.63Ω, kemudian dilakukan perhitungan menggunakan metode 2 batang yang ditanam sedalam 3 meter yang dihubung secara paralel menghasilkan nilai tahanan 3.84Ω. dilanjut dengan perhituungan hingga perhitungan menggunakan 4 batang yang ditanam sedalam 3 meter yang dihubung paralel menghasilkan nilai tahanan sebesar 2.25Ω.
