Abstract

Community empowerment is a concept that encapsulates community values to build a new paradigm that is community-centered, participatory. Bejijong Village is strategically located from the former magnificent Majapahit Kingdom. Trowulan, Mojokerto, the city where this village stands holds many unforgettable relics. A study was conducted to manage finances in Bejijong Village so that its history remains alive, while maintaining the popularity of this village with small and medium enterprises or commonly called UMKM (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises). Samples were taken from several products such as: Batik, Ecoprint and smoked eggs. First, Enabling, which is creating an atmosphere that allows community potential to develop. Second, Empowerment, which is strengthening the potential of the community through real steps that provide various inputs and openings in various opportunities that will make the community more empowered. Third, Protecting, which is protecting and defending the interests of the community. The empowerment approach essentially emphasizes the autonomy of decision making from community groups based on personal, direct, democratic resources and social learning. Empowering the community is an effort to improve the dignity of the lower classes who, with all their limitations, have not been able to be independent so that community empowerment not only strengthens individuals but also existing social institutions. Optimizing the potential of existing routines and instilling modern cultural values such as hard work, thrift, openness, responsibility are important parts of empowerment efforts.
