Abstract

This study aims to examine teachers' interpersonal communication approaches with students in instilling character education at SDN Wedoroklurak Candi Sidoarjo. The research employs a qualitative method using interviews with three primary informants, namely teachers actively involved in the learning process. The study focuses on the application of openness, empathy, supportiveness, and positivity as key elements in the humanistic perspective to support character building in students. The findings reveal that teachers employ various strategies, such as creating an inclusive learning environment, providing personal attention, and motivating students through recognition of their efforts. This study provides significant insights into how interpersonal communication can be used as a tool to instill character values in primary education settings and serves as a reference for future similar research.
