Abstract

In 2024, the East Java gubernatorial election will be the main focus, considering that this province is one of the most populous areas and has a significant influence on economic and social development in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the neutrality of TV One media in framing news related to the campaign of the East Java gubernatorial candidate pair on September 25, 2024. The type of research used is descriptive with a framing analysis approach. Data collection techniques through observation and content analysis of the TV One YouTube channel. This study uses data analysis techniques, namely qualitative descriptive and framing analysis. The results of the study show that in general TV One tries to maintain neutrality in its reporting, but there are several elements that tend to show differences in the way the three candidate pairs are framed. Some of the main findings in this study are: the choice of words and visuals, dominant themes and narratives and differences in framing between candidates' influence on public perception. To improve media neutrality in political campaign reporting, especially in the context of the 2024 East Java gubernatorial election: Increasing Awareness of Media Neutrality, Training Journalists in Neutral News Presentation Techniques, Monitoring and Evaluation of News Reporting by the Press Council, Increasing Transparency and Clarification by the Media, Emphasis on Diversity of Perspectives in News Reporting, Development of Political Education Content, Encouraging Community Participation in Public Discussions, and Collaboration with Civil Society Organizations.
