Abstract

This study is entitled "Interpersonal Communication of Guardians and Children of Online Game Addicts in Wedi Village, Gedangan District, Sidoarjo Regency" which aims to determine how interpersonal communication is established between guardians and children of online game addicts. To answer this problem, the researcher uses the Relational Rationalization hypothesis as a basis for testing the hypothesis with the existing problems. The strategy used is a subjective approach, which aims to reveal information and realities related to the preparation of interpersonal communication between parents and children of online game addicts in Wedi City, Gedangan District, Sidoarjo Regency. And using descriptive data analysis techniques by collecting and organizing information obtained efficiently from interview results, field notes, and other sources. So that the results obtained that the method between guardians and children emerges a critical point of view in their relationship, especially: (1) Relationships that are not continuously direct, The relationship between guardians and children does not continue to run as anticipated because of differences in desires and understandings. These differences often cause arguments, especially regarding the desire of parents for their children to follow the schedule that has been set. (2) Changes in relationships occur in the tendency to lean towards online diversions, indicating changes in the relationship between guardians and children. The need for openness in communication makes it difficult for children to share feelings or conclusions. (3) Inconsistency or pressure in the relationship, the mismatch between the child's commitment to help the guardian and the child's need for regular excitement causes stress. This requires good communication between guardians and children to limit conflict and create better understanding. (4) The Importance of Communication in Resolving Struggles, Good communication is the basis for overseeing struggles and stress in relationships. Guardians must provide intelligent supervision of their children, especially in terms of online recreational use.
