Abstract

The Durenan–Prigi road section, spanning 30.4 km, is under the jurisdiction of the East Java Provincial Government. This road serves as a key access route to popular tourist destinations, such as Prigi Beach and Mutiara Beach in Trenggalek Regency. As a vital corridor, the road requires regular maintenance to remain in good condition, ensuring user comfort and safety. Optimal maintenance is expected to support community mobility and enhance the tourism potential of the region. This study aims to identify the types of road damage, assess road conditions, and estimate maintenance costs. The road condition assessment was conducted using the Surface Distress Index (SDI) and Pavement Condition Index (PCI) methods. The SDI method evaluates road damage based on four main types of damage with four categories of assessment results, while the PCI method covers twenty types of damage with seven categories of road condition assessment, offering more detailed evaluations. The research data were obtained through direct field observations and secondary data from relevant agencies. The results indicate that road damage on the Durenan–Prigi section, assessed using the SDI method, includes cracks and potholes, with an average score of 11.89 (categorized as "Good"). Using the PCI method, the identified damages include alligator cracking, block cracking, rutting, fattening, longitudinal cracking, patching, and aggregate raveling, with an average score of 88 (categorized as "Excellent"). The estimated maintenance cost is IDR 2,596,960,786.27, comprising asphalt emulsion type 3 surface treatment (IDR 2,392,020,512.39), hot mix asphalt patching (IDR 160,955,321.83), and crack sealing (IDR 43,984,952.06).
