Abstract

The Kaligunting - Bajulan road segment in Madiun Regency, spanning 4.96 km, serves as a strategic connection between Madiun Regency and Ngawi Regency. However, this road has suffered significant damage, as identified in the TW 1 survey by UPT PJJ Madiun in 2024. The damages include potholes (15.25%), ruts (20.30%), patches (25.73%), alligator cracks (5.25%), weathering and loose aggregates (4.25%), and corrugations (43.85%). These issues are primarily caused by heavy traffic, especially overloaded vehicles exceeding the road's capacity. This condition disrupts the road's function as a primary connector, necessitating an analysis to determine appropriate repair measures to restore its performance and ensure smooth transportation. This study aims to assess the road surface condition of the Kaligunting - Bajulan segment using two approaches: the Bina Marga Method and the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) Method. The analysis involves measuring the extent of surface damage, classifying road conditions, and recommending suitable repair strategies. Damage data were collected through field surveys, documenting the types and severity of damages. The study seeks to determine maintenance priorities and provide technical recommendations to improve road quality. The analysis revealed that, based on the Bina Marga Method, the Kaligunting - Bajulan road segment has an average priority score of 11, qualifying it for a routine maintenance program. Using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) Method, some road segments were classified as "Very Poor," while the overall road condition was categorized as "Good." Six major types of damage were identified, with proposed repairs including AC-WC asphalt overlay using cold milling machines for damages such as alligator cracks, longitudinal/transverse cracks, corrugations, patches, and potholes. For loose aggregate damage, sealing was recommended. The total estimated repair cost is IDR 2,761,123,884, encompassing comprehensive measures to restore optimal road functionality..
