Abstract

Road infrastructure development has an important role in supporting community mobility and economic activity, especially in Mojokerto Regency which has diverse topography and geographical conditions. Good roads provide faster and easier access to educational facilities, health and public services, thereby directly contributing to improving the quality of life of residents in the region. This research discusses the comparison between rigid pavement and flexible pavement on the Temuireng–Jetis road section. The methods used include pavement thickness design analysis, cost evaluation, and implementation time estimates based on the 2017 Road Pavement Design Manual (MDPJ) for flexible pavement and Pd T- 14-2003 for rigid pavement. Primary data was obtained through field surveys, while secondary data was collected from the Mojokerto Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Department. The analysis results show that rigid pavement, with a thickness of 25 cm, is more economical than flexible pavement in terms of design life and costs. Rigid pavement requires a budget of IDR 3,202,246,813.00 with an implementation time of 119 days and a workforce of 25 people per day. On the other hand, flexible pavement costs IDR 4,667,881,104.00 with an implementation time of 71 days and a workforce of 5 people per day. Based on these results, rigid pavement is recommended for locations with heavy traffic loads and long design life. It is hoped that this research can provide technical guidance in planning roads that are more effective, efficient and sustainable, as well as encouraging further studies regarding environmental impacts and infrastructure maintenance.
