Abstract

The implementation of a lump-sum payment system in construction projects has the potential to influence the timeliness of project completion and workers' motivation. This study aims to examine the effect of the lump-sum payment system on the timeliness of each project phase and workers' motivation in the construction of a vocational school building in Caruban District, Madiun Regency. The focus of this study is to determine the contribution of the lump-sum payment system in enhancing worker performance and motivation to complete tasks on time. This study uses a quantitative method with multiple linear regression analysis. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 40 project workers. The variables tested include the payment system, work communication, and work environment as independent variables, and productivity and work motivation as dependent variables. An F-test was used to examine the simultaneous effect of the three independent variables on the dependent variables, while a t-test was used to assess the effect of each independent variable. The analysis results show that based on the F-test, the calculated F-value of 20.108 is greater than the F-table value of 2.86637, with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. This indicates that the payment system, work communication, and work environment have a significant simultaneous effect on productivity and work motivation. The t-test results show that the calculated t-value for the payment system is 2.691, which is greater than the t-table value of 2.0167, with a significance of 0.011 < 0.05, indicating that the lump-sum payment system has a positive and significant effect on work motivation. Therefore, the implementation of the lump-sum payment system can improve the timeliness of project completion and motivate workers to complete tasks faster and more efficiently.
