Abstract

Road infrastructure in the City of Bengkulu has a strategic and important role in supporting community mobility, economic activity, tourism and city development, that the increasing volume of vehicles is often not balanced with the quality of the roads, so that sometimes it causes problems, such as congestion and decreased safety of road users. The aim of this research is to explain the analysis of road infrastructure conditions, in terms of traffic density and road quality in Bengkulu City, using descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach, research subjects are people and government institutions, key informants, such as the Traffic Police , Transportation Service, PUPR Service, Bengkulu City BPS. The informants who are the object of research consist of structured questions for interviews with informants, key informants and data triangulation. Data collection techniques present sampling methods and such as field surveys, direct observation, or the use of secondary data. The results of the research explain that the level of traffic density in Bengkulu City is categorized as Medium (26 Vehicles/Km), the population density is known to be categorized as moderate, the demographics (population density) per square kilometer (Km2) in 2024 is 2,600 people/Km2, the quality of the roads is of good quality , although there are several road sections that experience cracking, road cracking incidents occur on 15 (fifteen) road sections amounting to 2,340%. Data shows that road cracks do not reduce road quality significantly because there are still roads with good quality of 97.660%. The condition of road infrastructure is generally good, because the Bengkulu City government periodically carries out routine maintenance and reconstruction to maintain road quality. The results of the analysis using Infrastructure Management theory from Neil S. Grigg state that the condition of road infrastructure in Bengkulu City is good based on the criteria of transportation systems (roads and bridges), clean water and sanitation systems as well as energy and other public facilities.
