Abstract

In a construction project, cost is one of the factors that determines the sustainability of the project, especially in the case study of the construction of the Madrasah Muallimin Muallimat Tambak Beras Jombang, because of this, savings measures are taken to produce an economical construction project. The selection of appropriate materials and construction methods can determine the amount of savings that will be obtained in the implementation of a construction project, where the selection of alternative materials and methods will not necessarily reduce or change the function, quality and architectural value of the project itself. Therefore, it is necessary to have a work cost analysis to control these aspects. One of the methods used to streamline costs on a construction project, especially building construction, is the Value Engineering Method, which is a systematic way to define the value of a subject relative to its function so that an innovative and structured approach can be carried out with the aim of reducing unnecessary costs. Based on research, it was found that by using lightweight bricks in this construction project, the initial RAB had a value of Rp. 97,604,440.61 obtained savings of Rp. 28,298,995.61. And for the implementation of the work, it was concluded that light brick work was faster than red brick wall masonry. Keywords: cost efficiency, speed of work
