Abstract

Pavement planning on the Long Ayan road section in Segah Sub-district, Berau Regency, is the focus of this research. Some of the issues highlighted include how to perform technical calculations for road planning on the Poros Long Ayan section, how much budget is needed to carry out the improvement planning, and how much time is needed to complete this road improvement work. The method used in this study is the AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) Method, which has proven effective in planning durable and safe pavements. In the planning analysis, technical factors such as relative strength coefficient, drainage factor, and other relevant parameters will be explored in depth to design the optimal pavement for the Long Ayan Axis road section. The results of the calculation of the thickness of the flexible pavement using the 1993 AASTHO Method show that the thickness of the Laston surface layer (AC WC and AC BC) is 10 cm, the thickness of the Class A Top Foundation Layer (aggregate) with 80% CBR is 25 cm, and the thickness of the Class B Bottom Foundation Layer (sirtu) with 80% CBR is 43 cm. The total cost budget for the 20-year plan life is estimated at Rp. 87,868,886,000. The results of the calculation of the thickness of the flexible pavement using ASTM D Method show that the thickness of the Laston surface layer (AC WC and AC BC) is 10 cm, the thickness of the Class A Top Foundation Layer (aggregate) with 80% CBR is 25 cm, and the thickness of the Class B Bottom Foundation Layer (sirtu) with 80% CBR is 45 cm. The total cost budget for the 20-year plan life is estimated at Rp. 89,063,086,000. From the calculation results, the time required to upgrade the Long Ayan axis road with the AASTHO method is estimated to be around 150 days (5 months) and the ASTM D method is estimated to be around 195 days (6.4 months). The details of the project implementation schedule need to be further detailed, and this time estimate can be used as a guide in planning time and supervising project implementation efficiently.
