Abstract

College students often spend their time engaging in non-academic activities they enjoy, such as social media and online gaming, which are unrelated to their studies. As a result, they frequently neglect their assignments. Task procrastination arises when too much time is spent on enjoyable activities. Such barriers and challenges are commonly encountered by students when working on their theses. This behavior, known as academic procrastination, is one of the obstacles that can hinder the achievement of success. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between social support and academic hardiness with academic procrastination among students working on their theses at Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya. The study sample consisted of 253 students working on their theses at Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya. The sampling method used was purposive sampling. The measurement tools included the social support scale, academic hardiness scale, and academic procrastination scale. The research methodology employed was quantitative correlational, with data analysis conducted using multiple linear regression. The results of the analysis revealed an R Square value of 0.486 with a significance of p = 0.000. These findings indicate a significant positive relationship between social support and academic hardiness with academic procrastination among students working on their theses at Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya.
