Abstract

This study discusses the legal protection for participants in the MBKM (Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka) internship program from the perspective of labor law in Indonesia. The MBKM program provides an opportunity for students to participate in internships as part of their learning experience; however, internship participants often face uncertainty regarding their rights. The aim of this study is to analyze the form of legal protection received by MBKM internship participants, identify the rights and obligations in the internship relationship, and assess to what extent existing regulations provide adequate protection for internship participants in accordance with labor law provisions in Indonesia. The method used in this research is a normative approach by analyzing relevant laws and regulations, such as Law No. 13 of 2003 on Manpower, Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 6 of 2020 on Domestic Internship Implementation, and other related regulations. The findings indicate that while there are several regulations governing the protection of internship participants, their implementation still needs improvement to ensure better protection of participants' rights. This study is expected to contribute to the development of a fairer and more inclusive labor policy for internship participants, aiming for justice and the welfare of the workforce in Indonesia.
