Abstract

The General Election is a regularly held agenda to elect representatives who will represent the interest of the people in government. The periodicity of elections in Indonesia is one of the manifestations of popular sovereignty, which characterizes the spirit of democracy. Women’s representation in elections is a major concern in efforts to achieve gender equaliti in Indonesia, and it also aligns with the principles of Feminist Legal Theory. In practice, the regulation set by the government for a minimum quota of 30% women’s representations still does not fulfill the principle of gender equality within the framework of Feminist Legal Theory. Researchers also observes that this regulation is often merely a formality carried out by political to be able participate in the election contest.
