Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the effect of the increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) rates on people's consumption patterns and its impact on the financial performance of retail companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that consumer demand has a significant influence on the company's financial performance. Although the increase in VAT rates does not have a significant impact on consumer demand, the overall level of demand remains the main factor determining the company's performance. Therefore, companies are advised to prioritize demand-increasing strategies, such as implementing effective marketing campaigns and improving the quality of customer experience, to support their financial sustainability. In addition, companies need to continue to monitor external factors that have the potential to affect consumption patterns, and adjust their operational strategies based on market trends and changes in consumer behavior.
