Abstract

Shallow groundwater, often called well water, is a type of groundwater that lies above the first impermeable layer and not too deep below the ground surface. This water is formed from the infiltration of surface water into the layer. Although it is widely utilized by the community, the quality of this groundwater is not always good because it is easily contaminated. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of shallow groundwater quality in Medokan Semampir Village, Sukolilo Subdistrict, Surabaya based on chemical parameter standards for raw water and map the feasibility of groundwater quality using ArcGIS 10.8 software. Shallow wells in this area are the main source of water for the local community used for various household purposes. The Struges Scoring Method was used to determine the suitability of groundwater quality at each well sample point. The Struges Scoring Method is a method that assists in determining class intervals in assessing the suitability of groundwater quality. Based on the analysis results, most parameters such as pH, nitrite (NO₂-), chromium (Cr⁶⁺), and iron (Fe) are within safe limits according to the Minister of Health Regulation No. 02 of 2023. However, high manganese (Mn) levels were found at 6 sample points ranging from 0.5-2.3 mg/L and nitrate (NO₃-) levels exceeded the threshold at point 3 by 50 mg/L. The groundwater quality feasibility assessment showed that 8 well points had a total score between 11 and 12, making them suitable for use as raw water based on chemical parameters.
