Abstract

This study aims to describe the value of humanity represented in the film "Pelangi Hitam Putih". The focus of this research is the representation of human values contained in the film "Black and White" which lasts 8 minutes 1 second. This study uses a qualitative approach using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis. Peirce categorizes the triangle theory of meaning which consists of three main elements namely, signs, objects, and interpretants. Researchers conducted an analysis of the selection of texts and images related to human values. The results of this study indicate that the film "Pelangi Hitam Putih" contains human values in the form of a moral message that contains always having to be thankful for all the conditions that exist, this film teaches to always try as much as possible and live all obligations with sincerity. Humanitarian tolerance in an attitude of mutual respect and respect between groups or between individuals in society. The implications in this study are: (1) Paying attention to the meaning in a film. This needs to be considered so that the public can understand the positive message of the film (2) This research is also expected to be a material consideration for producers and directors in making films in order to be able to provide enlightenment as to where the film functions.
