Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between Mental Toughness and Achievement Motivation with Anxiety Competing Taekwondo Athletes in East Java. The initial allegation proposed in this study is that there is a relationship between Mental Toughness and Achievement Motivation with Anxiety Competing Taekwondo Athletes in East Java. The higher the Mental Toughness and Achievement Motivation, the lower the competition anxiety achieved. The subjects in this study were Taekwondo athletes spread in East Java totaling 208 athletes, who had participated in the championship, whether the championships were followed at regional, regional, national or international levels. The scale used is a scale of anxiety competing based on the features proposed by Singgih (1996). While the Mental Toughness scale is based on the traits stated by Clough et al (1996) then the Achievement Motivation scale is based on the traits put forward by McClelland and Atkinson (2007). The data analysis method was carried out in this study using the SPSS program version version 16 for windows. The analysis technique uses multiple regression analysis correlation which shows the coefficient F: 139,461 with p = 0,000 (p <0.05) which means that there is a significant relationship between Mental Toughness and Achievement Motivation with Anxiety Competing against Taekwondo athletes in East Java. So the research hypothesis is accepted.
