Abstract

Kulkas umumnya digunakan untuk menyimpan bahan makanan mentah, sayur - sayuran, buah-buahan, minuman kaleng, dan es krim agar tidak membusuk, tahan lama, dan tetap terjaga awet di dalam suhu yang telah dikondisikan. Coefficient of performance (COP) yang merupakan perbandingan antara kapasitas pendinginan dengan daya kompresor menjadi salah satu indikator yang digunakan untuk menilai kinerja mesin pendingin. Pada penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan variasi ktup ekspansi dan pelepasan laju panas kondensor, peneilitan ini dapat dilakukan untuk mengkaji dampak terhadap COP (Coefficient Of Performance) dan karakteristik pada mesin pendingin dengan menggunakan media pendingin (refrigerant) R134A. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan variasi katup ekspansi dengan menggunakan pipa kapiler dengan panjang 0.5, 1, 1.5 m dengan diameter pipa sebesar 2 mm, selain itu menggunakan fan dengan variasi kecepatan angin 4, 5, 6 m/s. dari data pengujian dapat disimpulkan bahwa semakin besar kecepatan udara kondensor maka efisiensi yang dihasilkan semakin besar, sedangkan untuk panjang pipa kapiler yang paling optimal yaitu 1 m.
