Abstract

A clean environment is very important in maintaining human health. Household hygiene, especially the cleanliness of floors from dust and small particles, has become easier with the advancement of robotics technology. Although floor cleaning robots have been widely used, most of them are only able to clean ordinary dust and dirt, not optimal for cleaning small metals such as needles, pins, and nails that are potentially harmful. This research develops a floor cleaning robot with a voice command control system that is able to clean small metals. The robot is equipped with sensors to detect obstacles and an HC-05 Bluetooth module to receive voice commands through the Bluetooth Control app. The test results show that the sensor system effectively stops the robot when it detects obstacles within 20 cm with a success rate of 100%, and an average voice command detection error rate of 32%, indicating the need for improved accuracy. The highest metal cleaning efficiency is for nails (37%), pins (38%), and needles (25%), with efficiency affected by the skewed design of the tool. Suggestions for improvement include adjusting the design of the tool so that the front and rear magnets are aligned, the use of stronger magnets, further testing in various environmental conditions, and the development of an automatic movement system when detecting obstacles. This research is expected to help ease household chores, as well as make the process of sweeping the floor more effective and enjoyable.
