Abstract
Youkai adalah makhluk mitologi yang berasal dari Jepang. Youkai memiliki berbagai macam jenisnya serta wujud dan karakteristik yang beragam. Dalam mitos dan manga memiliki penggambaran yang sama maupun berbeda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggambaran wujud dan karakteristik youkai dalam Manga Touhou Suichouka ~ Lotus Eater. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini pendekatan mitopoik yaitu pendekatan yang menyangkut hal-hal mitos dan metode yang dipakai ialah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Kajian yang dipakai ialah teori youkai menurut Matthew Meyer, Lafcadio Hearn, Michael Dylan Foster, Matt Alt dan Hiroko Yoda. Terdapat 5 data youkai antara lain yaitu Kotengu, Daitengu, Oni, Tanuki, dan Zashiki-Warashi. Penggambaran wujud dan karakteristik youkai dalam mitos cenderung lebih mengerikan dan aneh serta memiliki karakteristik yang jahat walaupun hanya ada 2 youkai yang berwujud lucu serta 1 youkai yang memiliki karakteristik baik dan suka membantu manusia. Sementara itu dalam Manga Touhou Suichouka ~ Lotus Eater wujud youkai digambarkan cenderung lebih mirip seperti manusia namun ciri-ciri youkai yang terdapat dalam mitos tetap ada sedangkan karakteristik youkai dalam manga sama-sama jahat tetapi hanya ada 2 youkai yang memiliki karakteristik baik terhadap manusia.
