Abstract

The role of social media in the image of a government organization is as a bridge of information and control of information flow which is closely related to the image itself. Instagram social media is one of the means of information that is currently favored by millennials to obtain information. Therefore, by using descriptive qualitative methods, researchers describe how a positive image of a government organization is important and how to analyze the implementation of communication strategies using the image restoration theory developed by Benoit (1995). By conducting a case study on Instagram @kbpppa_gresik, the researcher observes how the role of social media Instagram of the KBPPPA Office of Gresik Regency plays a role in implementing communication strategies through Instagram in maintaining the image of the KBPPPA Office of Gresik Regency. This is also related to the main task of the Gresik Regency KBPPPA Office in that information disclosure from the government to the community is one of the important things that the Gresik Regency KBPPPA Office wants to achieve. One of them is realized by disseminating information, namely through the Instagram content @kbpppa_gresik with various themes and topics around the activities of the Gresik Regency KBPPPA Office with the aim of spreading to be able to reach all circles of society. The KBPPPA Office of Gresik Regency in implementing communication strategies makes various handling efforts with the aim of maintaining the image of the company.
