Abstract

In running a business there are several things that must be considered, one of which is the adequacy of capital and how to manage the capital. Because, all businesses, both large and small, certainly need funds in the form of capital to meet the operational needs of the business activities carried out. Capital can be classified into two types, namely fixed capital and working capital. Working capital itself is defined as funds that continue to flow in line with changes in the company's operational activities, where the effectiveness of the use of working capital can be measured based on the level of working capital turnover over a certain period. This study aims to analyze working capital turnover efficiently to increase profitability based on the presentation of financial statements at UMK Roti in Kali Rungkut Surabaya. The research method carried out is descriptive qualitative research, using several data collection techniques ranging from observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review to some reading literature. The data used in this study is based on primary data by conducting direct interviews with Mrs. Choirul Mahpudah, secondary data by collecting financial statements regarding the working capital statement and income statement owned by Mrs. Choirul Mahpudah with a time period from 2021-2023. The results showed that the calculation of working capital turnover and profitability using Return On Equity (ROE) has a relationship between the efficiency of asset use and working capital with business profitability. If there is a decrease in efficiency in the use of working capital, it can affect the decrease in ROE, which means that working capital management that is not optimal can have a negative impact on business profitability.
