Abstract
Knowledge of medicinal plants began to be unknown by millennials generation. A lot of data mention that the use of medicinal plants in the community environment is reduced annually. Some surveys provide the data that adolescent’s knowledge of medicinal plants is very low especially in large cities. Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that combines three-dimensional graphics with the real world in real-time by using assistance of smartphone camera devices. AR can be applied in various fields of science, including education, manufacturing, military, advertising, medicine and entertainment world. In the field of education, AR can be utilized as a media learning to know the information of family medicinal plants through marker. By means of AR, information displayed will be more interactive for the user. By using the image matching method (image matching), that is to identify an image (Image Target) then bring up 3d plants and a brief information of the plants that oppropriate to the identified image, AR can give a new method for media information. The result of this application development is a learning media that runs on smartphones by using interactive Augmented Reality technology, then the application will provide information about medicinal plants, how to take advantage of them, and the treatable diseases. In addition to information, the application will also display a 3-dimensional object of plants.
