Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reception of migrant students towards the BNI Web Series Edition of Kos-Kosan Influencer. This web series depicts the lives od young influencers living in boarding houses while exploring financial challenges and solutions offered by BNI. This study uses a qualitative approach with reception analysis methods to understand how migrant students interpret the messages conveyed in the web series. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with five informants who are migrant students from various cities and educational backgrounds. The results of the study indicate that migrant students have diverse perceptions of the systems and decision making policies presented in the web series. Some informants also stated they felt helped by the financial information provided, while others criticized the presentation of solutions as too idealistic and unrealistic. This study also found that social background and financial experience influence how migrant students understand and respond to the messages in the web series. Informants with better financial knowledge tend to be more critical of the content, while those with less experience are more accepting of the solutions offered. This study concludes that the BNI Web Series editions of kos-kosan influencer has the potential to improve financial literacy among migrant students, but adjusments are needed to make the messages conveyed more realistic and applicable.
