Abstract

Dengan pemahaman yang semakin mendalam tentang ilmu pengetahuan dan kebutuhan industri yang terus meningkat, salah satu pengembangan material adalah material komposit menjadi sangat penting. Material komposit yang diinginkan harus memiliki kinerja mekanik yang unggul dan memiliki dampak lingkungan yang minimal. Penggunaan serat alam sebagai bahan penguat pada matriks polimer memiliki beberapa keuntungan utama. karena memiliki densitas rendah, tidak mudah terabrasi, dan kemampuan mengisi yang tinggi, yang membuatnya kuat, mudah didaur ulang, murah, dan mudah ditemukan. Alkalisasi adalah salah satu proses perlakuan kimia yang paling umum digunakan.Pada penelitian ini penguat yang digunakan serat sabut kelapa yang teksturnya lebih kuat dan mudah dalam pengambilan seratnya dengan variasi presentase perlakuan perendaman Alkalisai ( NaOH ) yakni sebesar 10 % , 15 %, 20 % dengan waktu perendaman selama 120 menit dan untuk matrik menggunakan resin polyester dengan fraksi volume serat dan resin 4% : 96%, 6% : 94%, 8% : 92%, serta melakukan analisa terhadap kekuatan Tarik dan impact. Sehingga di dapatkan hasil Specimen uji tarik dengan perlakuan alkalisasi NaOH dengan presentase 10% memiliki nilai tegangan tarik rata-rata tertinggi pada volume serat 8 % yaitu 27,41 Mpa, Sedangkan nilai kekuatan tarik terendah terjadi pada specimen uji tarik dengan presentase NaOH 20% dengan volume serat 4% dengan nilai 13,01 Mpa. Pada specimen uji impact dengan perlakuan alkalisasi NaOH dengan presentase 10% dan volume serat 8% memiliki nilai rata-rata energi yang diserap tertinggi yaitu 1,218 Joule. Sedangkan pada perlakuan alkalisasi NaOH dengan presentase 15% dan volume serat 4% memiliki nilai rata-rata nilai energi yang diserap terendah yaitu 0,470 Joule.
