Abstract
Penelitian ini berfokus pada eksplorasi potensi energi angin di daerah pantai yang dapat diubah menjadi sumber energi baru terbarukan, khususnya tenaga bayu. Meskipun potensinya cukup besar, pemanfaatannya untuk pembangkit listrik tenaga bayu masih terbatas. Oleh karena itu, peneliti berusaha untuk mengkaji dan merancang turbin angin sebagai sarana pembangkit listrik tenaga bayu guna optimalisasi pemanfaatan energi terbarukan di pesisir pantai, sehingga berfungsi sebagai sumber energi listrik di wilayah pantai. Pada penelitian ini peneliti akan merancang sebuah pembangkit listrik alternatif yang bersumber dari energi kinetik diubah menjadi energi listrik. Rancang bangun pembangkit listrik ini menggunakan turbin angin jenis Savonius Tipe U dan Savonius double U yang dilakukan analisa berupa sudut sudu dan jumlah bilah agar menghasilkan daya output terbesar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji turbin dengan variasi jumlah bilah Savonius tipe U dan sudut sudu Savonius double U. Variasi yang digunakan adalah untuk jumlah bilah Savonius tipe U terdapat jumlah bilah 2 dan 4, dan untuk sudut sudu Savonius tipe double U terdapat sudut yaitu 150°, 160°, dan 170°. Tujuan dari rancang bangun pembangkit listrik tersebut adalah dimana turbin angin yang menghasilkan energi listrik dengan memanfaatkan energi angin sebagai tenaga penggerak bilah turbin yang akan memutar poros turbin yang tersambung ke generator dapat menghasilkan energi listrik. Turbin angin savonius tipe U dengan variasi jumlah bilah 4 blade dan savonius tipe dobel U dengan variasi 170° menghasilkan nilai efisiensi turbin terbaik yaitu 4 blade 1.20% dan sudut 170° menghasilkan 3,68%. Karakteristik grafik yang dihasilkan untuk variasi sudut bilah dan jumlah bilah memiliki kecenderungan sama yaitu semakin tinggi efisiensi maka semakin besar daya yang dihasilkan.
